Gary is an extremely vibrant and passionate Alexander Technique teacher who demonstrates amazing patience and understanding with all of his students. He has an innate talent to initiate a life-long growth process that enables students to discover an in-depth development of themselves. Gary is known for his generosity, humor, kind heart, and tenacious creative energy, which he actively integrates into his practice. Gary was introduced to the Alexander Technique in 1987 while attending Theatre School in London, England. He has been an avid student of the technique for over 30 years. In 2005, Gary founded Directional Training after graduating from an extensive and comprehensive 3-year teaching program for Alexander Technique teachers in Vancouver. Gary teaches lessons in the Alexander Technique privately in his home studio in North Vancouver and offers workshops in the Greater Vancouver area. He works with athletes, actors, musicians, individuals in chronic pain, and those suffering from work-related ailments. The Alexander Technique is an educational process that focuses on the individual; therefore, what happens in a lesson depends very much on the needs of the student at the time. How we use ourselves - the way we do things - affects the results we get. The Alexander Technique is a means of improving that use, enabling people to further their own personal skills and activities. Olympic-level athletes have used the Technique to improve their performance, as have leading golfers and business people.
